Captain Rick Named Outstanding Instructor for 5th Time
Congratulations to Captain Rick for being named ASA Outstanding Instructor for 2011! Captain Rick has won the award for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. We can proudly state that all of our instructors have been named ASA Outstanding Instructors!
Emerald Coast Yachts was selected as ASA Outstanding School of the Year for 2006 & 2008.
These awards are the direct result of feedback to the ASA from our students. We'd like to say thank you to all!
Become an ASA Sailing Instructor!
ECY will host an Instructor Qualification Clinic (IQC) from February 23 - 27 at our facilities. The Clinic will start at 5:00pm on Thursday 2/23. Capt. Bob Kriegel will be the Instructor Evaluator.
The IQC will cover the following levels of ASA instructor certification:
ASA Keelboat (201) Instructor--> Thurs 2/23 thru Sat 2/25
ASA Basic Coastal Cruising (203) Instructor--> Sunday 2/26
ASA Coastal Navigation (205) Instructor--> Sunday 2/26
ASA Bareboat Chartering (204) Instructor--> Monday 2/27
Candidates may sign up for any or all of the clinics. Registration for the clinic is handled by the American Sailing Association at www.asa.com/become_an_instructor.html.
It is important for candidates to understand that these are not classes, but rather qualification clinics. Candidates are expected to already have the knowledge, teaching and sailing skills required for each individual course.
Additionally, candidates must pass Coastal Navigation with a score of at least 80% to qualify as a 203 or 204 instructor.
If there is sufficient interest, a preparatory clinic can be scheduled for Wednesday, 2/22 and/or Thursday, 2/23.

ECY Adds Catalina 36 MKII to Fleet
ECY has just added Child's Play to our fleet. She is an extremely popular model: Catalina 36 MKII! She is in excellent condition and has joined our other boats at Sabine Marina on Pensacola Beach.

ECY introduces new ASA 106+
Capt. Bob Kriegel teaches this new course which is geared for students who really want to prepare for cruising and offshore sailing (and have some fun on the beautiful Gulf Coast). The class will be taught aboard Caribbean Soul, Too, a Morgan 44 Center Cockpit.

Graduates of our Bareboat Certification Course can charter one of our yachts at a significant discount from our normal bareboat charter rates for an overnight bareboat charter.
